Thinking of renovating your property in Greece? The government is running several grant programs in 2025 that cover part of your renovation costs. These schemes are designed to improve energy efficiency, modernize old homes, and support both local and international owners.

Eligibility Criteria (2025)

To qualify for a renovation grant in Greece:

  • You must be the legal owner of the property.

  • The property should be built before 1979.

  • It must have an Energy Certificate (PEA) rated Category C or lower.

  • You need a valid Greek Tax ID (AFM) (international owners can apply for one).

Renovate & Rent Program

Focused on empty houses and apartments: the government helps you renovate if you commit to renting them out.

  • Subsidy: 60% of costs, up to €13,500

  • Maximum grant: €8,100

  • Advance: 50% upfront

  • Eligible works include: structural repairs, energy upgrades, and modernization

Exoikonomo 2025

The long-standing program for energy-saving upgrades.

International Property Owners

Don’t have a Greek Tax ID (AFM) yet? You can still qualify by:

  • Applying for one at the tax office

  • Providing proof of residence

  • Submitting translated title deeds if required
